This is a topic that affects so many individuals yet very few people realize the struggles that someone who suffers from an eating disorder deal with daily. According to the Renfrew Center Foundation, up to 24 million people in the United States experience an eating disorder and nearly 50 percent of Americans know someone who has an eating disorder. The major eating disorders include: anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating disorder, etc. Binge eating disorder is not as well known, but according to the National Association of Anorexia nervosa and Associated Disorders, Binge Eating Disorder is more common than Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa and occurs in 1 out of 35 adults in the U.S. This translates to 3-5% of women (about 5 million) and 2 % of men (3 million).
