Michelangelo and Getting Ideas (STORY of the Day)
Story of the Day: A Lesson From Michelangelo About Getting Ideas
Michelangelo, the great Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer, is another individual whom we can learn from about getting ideas. Michelangelo had amazing vision. He saw art where others only saw rock. He is quoted as saying, “In every block of marble I see a statue as plain as though it stood before me, shaped and perfect in attitude and action. I have only to hew away the rough walls that imprison the lovely apparition to reveal it to the other eyes as mine see it.”
Michelangelo chiseled away at the David, his masterpiece each day. He saw what it was that he wanted to do before it was done. “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it,” Michelangelo said. He saw David, he saw the Pieta, and he saw Moses. I knew that I wanted to write and I knew that I loved listening to stories. InterviewGirl.com was a concrete idea in my head.
Now it was a matter of taking action and making the idea a reality. I made a list, organized the list into a plan, and before you knew it, InterviewGirl.com was born.
